The word means mood and sourroundings. Brian Eno's 1978 album Music for Airports pioneered a new experimental genre, focusing purely on atmosphere. Ambient has influenced many musical genres and denotes all other art forms, from dance through architecture to film, which intend to affect the audience purely through emotions, bypassing rational thought...

Dj. Kaszi about the ambient: "What is ambient music, in my point of view? In words it means the music of the sourroundings. Many things fit in. What do I mean exactly? Variable-style rhythms, which combine high-technology manufactured music and the sounds we cannot clearly define from nature. Includes  the world's people's unique sound, just as the voice of a passing train or unidentified radio signals. These sounds can be combined with a different style of music. Most of the various strands of electronic music, such as trip-hop, electro, space, new age. The ambient music  constantly keep our thoughts in moving, like a movie theater inside, which if you hear, you can see it's pictures. The ambient sounds carry us on a journey with the help of our fantasy. Ambient music is a symbolic messenger from our soul. Ambient takes us to the sacred realm of the unconscious world. The ambient is a window which we can see through ourselves, our thoughts and stand in the reality of  endless space and time. Ambient is an integral chain of sounds and thoughts...

The modern history of ambient music began in the eighties when Brian Eno for the first time used  ambient as a definition of the music he created for airports. Before that in the late sixties, bands already composed similar music called the style psichedelic rock .  The most famous was Pink Floyd, when they played a more than fifteen minutes piece called Overpass in Hiperspace in a sci-fi club in London. This psichedelic-rock style is still countinued till now for ex. by the english Ozric Tentacles band. In the early seventies in West Germany a new electronic rock music scene was born called krautrock, which later became famous representatives: Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Kraftverk, are also beginned they music life with this flying, experimental, spacy music, which  are still  the main characteristics of ambient music.

When you first hear this music your first impression could be this is a music have been created with the effect of hallucinogenic drugs. In fact, not much mistaken, because the the first music beyond consciousness is origined from shamans. They used hallucinogenic catalizators to change the consciousness of their mind. Of course, many musicians are using these drugs to promote self-expression today. The contradiction in this, that a man feels and perceives it in sober mood too. That is my goal. Journey for listeners without drugs, which only takes us by the sounds to the world of endless space and time. The ambient contemporary chapter began in the early nineties, due to the spinning tendency of "acid" music which was excavated itself as the anti-pole the slow psichedelic music. That's why they called ambient slow trance or intelligent techno. It reached the highest point in the mid-nineties. The biggest ambient record label in 1993 - founded by Pete Namlook, the German-Fax Records is still fructify. In England the Global Communication (Tom Middleton / Mark Pritchard) have taken the most to spread this trend. Should not forget of course, Banco de Gaia (Toby Marks) and the HIA / Bobby Bird / whom I had the pleasure to play with at the Cinetrip water parties.
